Description

The title is just a quote form Karl Marx that we've been discussing in class recently. Was the only thing I could think of when I was trying to title this image.

Sadly I am still camera-less (which explains the lack of posting recently), but a friend let me borrow his D70 this weekend while I was in Chicago. The weather was horrible, cold, and rainy....but stepping inside this beautiful church provided a great chance to capture the architecture inside!

Hope you enjoy

Really nice photo. Contrast looks flat though. Midtones could be darker to help the contrast.

Very nice perspective Dan! :)

Would have tried to avoid the cut lamps at top/left.

Maybe aim your camera below those. :o

I'd also try to darken the blacks (selective color black).

Overall, a pretty good shot. However, I do agree that the contrast could be turned up a notch or two; the image seems a tad washed out to me. I also agree that the crop is a bit tight, particularly at the bottom for me. I guess I would have used an angle that captured the pews more substantially (from the center isle perhaps) or not included them at all.

as usual I'm different in my thots- I like the muted look, it highlights the blue in the windows. as far as cropping, I know that folks here seem to be pretty particular about cutting into objects such as the light in upper left corner....well I think it works well to establish the 'line' of lights on both sides. and the view of pews is
very creative as it gives the design element a 'line' angle on both the top and bottom from right to left. the combination of these lines on top, bottom, and sides
creates a wonderful direction for the eye to follow.
great all around, for me!! */9

I think this perspective works very well. I'd increase the blacks slightly to give it a bit more contrast. A very good image.

Nice perspective on the walls and ceiling. I'm not sure the floor. The benches, and light beams are interesting but they're not prominent enough to see well, while being noticeable enough to be a little distracting.

I don't like the rays of light all over - I think it could be good on one or 2 lamps but not all over. Other then this it looks great! Just fabulous :)
